A few days ago, as I sat in my sacred chair meditating and I was called back to the moment by the sound of my favorite holiday carol,Oh Come All Ye Faithful being played softly and lovingly. I followed that sweet sound through the house and there she sat at the piano, playing and yet she was out on journey of her own into the melody of the song. I realized then and there the power of music and the soul; there is this great beckoning that causes us to draw near and adore the Christ; to simply come and look with love upon love. Suddenly there was this great wave of emotion that filled me with memories of Christmases come and gone; rushing back in to my memory. I was stunned, no overwhelmed by all the faces, the joy, the love, the hope, the fun, the laughter, the losses and the longing that I thought were long since gone from me. Yet in a flash they seemed to return form a long journey, or rather they simply showed themselves in the place where they have always been and will always be; brightly shining upon the glistening canvas of my soul.
Today, I understand both the lyric and intent of that song so very differently as I look upon my time, my life, the works of my hands and heart with love and as love. Beloved, this is not just a message for some of us; it is for all of us the world over. I know that when we see ourselves with love and as love, we can therefore see all the love that surrounds us, encapsulates and supports us. It has always been right there and will always be present to us and through us. That, my friends is my kind of corrective vision. Love is what is beckoning us to come and see it, know it, be inspired by and live from it. Come!
In all of our comings and goings; from my family to you and yours; we see for you and in you a myriad of blessings in all of the traditions, rituals and ways that celebrations enter into your midst. Know that wherever you are, all is calm and all is bright.
Faithfully on the journey with you…
Peace and Blessings,
Kathy
